I've always loved woodworking tools particularly the ones with old wooden handles. This piece is inspired by the form of a woodcarver's mallet from the round mallet head to the shaped hangle perfect for picking up. The bottom half features a glazed developed recently by my team. The carved lines melt in the kiln to creating a wavy pattern. —Tung Chiang, Clay Studio Director
